You need,
Pumpkin – 1.5 – 2 cups cubed
Green gram dal – 1/2 cup
Green chillies – 2
Oil – 2 tbsps
Red chillies, flakes – 2
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Chopped onions – 1 tbsp
dry roasted coconut powder – 1 tbsp
Curry leaves
For paste:
Fresh Coconut – 1/2 cup
Garlic – 2 to 3 small cloves
Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilly flakes – 1
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
You have to,
1.Pressure cook (3 whistles) the green gram dal with 2 cups water and green chillies. Once it is done, open it and mash it. Add the pumpkin and boil till cooked. Add salt and the prepared paste. Boil till it starts to thicken.
2.Heat oil. Add red chilli flakes and urad dal. Once dal changes color, add the mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
3.Add onions. Fry till they turn light brown. Add the curry leaves. After few seconds add the coconut powder. Saute it for a while and add this to the dal mixture.
4.Serve with rice
