You need,
1. Masoor Dal – 1 cup washed several times and drained
2. onions – 3 quartered and sliced
3. tomatoes – 3 coarsely chopped
4. garlic – 4 cloves crushed
5. grated ginger – 1/2 tsp
6. red chilli powder – 1 tsp
7. turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
8. bay leaf – 1 bay leaf
9. crushed black pepper – 1 tsp
7. chilli flakes – 1 tsp
8. Salt as per taste
9. oil – 1 tbsp
10. Lemon wedges
11. Corriander leaves for garnish
You have to,
1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan ( pressure cooker pan).
2. Add crushed garlic, ginger and bay leaf . saute till raw smell disappears.
3. Add onions, a pinch of salt and saute till translucent.
4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli powder
5. Saute for a few more mins.
6. Remove the bay leaf and add the Masoor Dal.
7. Add about 2.5 to 3 cups of water and Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
8. Allow to cool. Once the pressure is done remove the lid.
9. Blend it in a blender
10. Transfer it to a sauce pan and bring it to a boil.
11. Add crushed black pepper and salt to taste
Serve with corriander leaves and crushed chilli flakes and lemon wedges
