Mullangi / radish thoran or upperi or stir fry

You need
1. Radish(Mullangi)– 4 cups gratted
2. Onion– 1/4 cup sliced
3. Grated Coconut – 1/2 Cup
4. Garlic – 1 small clove
5. Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
6. Green Chillies – 1 Slit
7. Turmeric – A pinch
8. Salt to taste
9. Oil – 2 tbsp
10. Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
11. Curry Leaves – A sprig
12. Dry red chilli – 1

You have to
1. Mix coconut, turmeric powder, cumin crushed, grated garlic and finely chopped green chillies using hands or coarsely grind everything together.
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non stick pan.Add broken red chilli and splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and saute for a minute.
3. Add the grated radish, salt and sliced onions. Saute well for 1-2 min.
4. Make a “well” in the mixture and add the coconut mixture and cover it with the radish mixture.
5. Cover the pan and cook on low flame for around 5-8 minutes. Do not add water.
6. Remove the lid and stir fry continuously for another 1-2 minutes in high flame so that it becomes dry.
7. Serve with rice or chappathi.
